The “Republic” is Plato’s masterpiece, a lasting, thought-provoking and truly interdisciplinary contribution to mankind’s thinking about man and society. This collection of new essays by an international team of scholars from various disciplines deals afresh with the classical topics of political philosophy (totalitarianism, the problem of stasis and the ancient Greek debate on the best constitution), metaphysics, moral psychology (the tripartite soul and eudaimonia) and the role and function of science and myth.
